Update: As of 7/3, some users are reporting that using a VPN in another country allows you to use Twitter again. The “Rate Limit Exceeded: error message will disappear and your tweets will load.

Note: As of 7/2/23 6pm ET, my Twitter account seems to be operating as it did before 7/1/23. When I view my Profile, my Tweets and Replies are loading. I can resume my Twitter Search “Damian Lillard” and Twitter Search Results are loading. This was not the case several hours ago. I have removed all connected apps from this account.

It has now been almost 24 hours since I first received this message. I signed up for Twitter’s Blue Verified, and I am still getting the error message. But here is the solution that might fix it.

The Error Message has less to do with Elon Musk’s limit on the number of messages per day but more to do with the use of third-party Connected Desktop and Mobile Connected Apps. I would remove all Connected Apps as follows:

On your Desktop Computer:

Twitter Home > More > Settings and Support > Security and account access > Apps and sessions > Connected Apps

In my case, I had the following third party apps by Apple, Instagram, Twitter, and Medium.

What I found is that I still had and was using some very old connected apps from third parties such as Apple, Hootsuite, Twitter Deck, etc. I removed all of them for now.

With your computer or mobile phone, login to a new browser session and login to Twitter. Do not login to any Twitter Mobile or Desktop App. The “Rate Limited Exceeded” error message should go away.

If you have multiple Twitter Accounts, I would recommend removing all connected apps from all accounts.

I also deleted 2013 installed Twitter App from my iPhone. I recollect I was using this Twitter App to access multiple Twitter Accounts.

I don’t have a solution yet for accessing multiple accounts on my iPhone.

Okay, this worked on my Desktop Computer for a few minutes but now I am getting a new error. Using Twitter on Safari or Chrome on my iPhone, I logged out of all Twitter accounts and started new. It worked for one session and now received a new Rate Limited Exceeded Error.
